Remember, it is the responsibility of each teacher to renew his/her credential. Teachers who have an expired credential run the risk of being placed on unpaid leave. This is not a district decision, but rather a county office decision. As you probably know, being placed on unpaid leave affects more than your paycheck. Unpaid leave can also affect your health benefits as well as service credit for retirement purposes.
